Grove Altar

Drumming and fire

Hasfest looks set to be as great as usual even though this may be the last year it is held due to developers wanting to build houses on our grove and across where we have the firepit and all areas surrounding it.  There has been a protest about the development as the residents in the area don't want their green space built on either and we were hoping to help them in their fight against the plans, as a Pagan community, by asking people that had enjoyed Hasfest in the past, the Samhain Rituals that we have held there and the Handfastings that they have attended there if they could find time to write a couple of sentences as to what the grove means to them to put before the council in a presentation, but compared to amount of folk coming along and enjoying these free events there has been very little response.  The lack of response is very disheartening  making the people who work very hard to put these events together, just to bring like minded people together and hoping create a sense of community, if it is really worth continuing at all, as a lot of time and their own money goes into preparing everything and getting it all ready.  So hey, best make this a good on and go out with a bang rather than a whimper!

If anyone is reading this who would like to help by sending in a short paragraph (or more) of what the grove and that area means to them there is still time as the council has put the date of the hearing back again.  Cherill is the person who is getting the presentation together and her email is -  cherill 57@btinternet.com
(there are no spaces in the email address, I've put one in to stop her getting spammed by bots) or contact her on  facebook/Hasfest

Hasfest Pagan Event 2012

Beribboned Burning Man
Cosmic Goddess
Burning Man burning
Fire Tower

Got over the post camp blues now, mud washed away and eagerly waiting for Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp in August and seeing everyone again.

Everyone I've heard has said how lovely Hasfest was yet again and how they felt included and involved, even the residents in the houses that back on to the site have said they enjoy us arriving which is very good to know.  The Grove has been well received and is well worth the scratches and bruises we got a few weeks back clearing it and getting it ready.  An altar has been made and the children especially have filled it with offerings, it is a lovely space.

Friday evening the rains came!  Mud galore but that didn't stop most of us flashing fluro in the rave tent and dancing like mad fools, well apart from the younger ones who tried to maintain their cool;0)  The rest of the weekend luckly was dry.  The Sonic Jam went down well as far as I can tell from the noise coming from the marque;0).  The Burning Man and his large appendage went up well and the fire was huge, very warm for dancing and drumming round, the jumpers must have been very hot!!

Goddess Flower Vase

A while ago I was asked if I had any vases with symbols of the Goddess or Pentacles on which I hadn't, but not wishing to disappoint, I engraved some and gave the person who had asked the choice of which she would like.  She only wanted a small vase so that she could put seasonal foliage, flowers or herbs in on her altar, leaving the cauldron free for other use.  Thinking that this was a lovely idea I have this one ready to go, a Goddess figure with an arm full of flowers and a spiral on her stomach (the second spiral you can see in the photo is actually on the bottom of the vase, my mark).  The vase is approx 5 inches high, maybe ideal for Imbolc do you think?
