Lammas Camp 2021

1st of July already, only 4 weeks to go until we are back in the field celebrating Lammas and being together again, having had to miss last year like a lot of events did.  I've got the workshops listed for those of you who like to know what's on :)  The lovely RJS Catering will be there again with lots of yummy food for you to buy, saves on washing up and faff ;)  Their menu for camp can be found on my website  along with the ticket form and other info.

Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp & a brief what happens in case you were wondering

Lammas Camp

Time spent in a field with marvellous views of the Derbyshire countryside with a like minded bunch of folk is never wasted.  When you’ve had enough of sitting around relaxing soaking up the atmosphere and having a brew or two (or whatever’s your tipple), there are workshops to learn something new or swap ideas in, crafts to create and drums to beat.

The central sacred fire is kept going throughout the weekend and is a good place to sit around, drum and chat or dance around as the night gets cooler.  It has the ashes of many other sacred fires, from far away and this country, sprinkled into it to lend their energies to our camp, as our fires ashes will be collected by those who like to to lend the energies of this camp to their own fires.

The ‘Beating of the Bounds’ starts off Lammas Camp Thursday evening, when we go round the field beating our drums and clearing the space ready for the weekend, please join in and if you don’t have a drum clap your hands or just walk with us to where the fire is to be lit with an Opening Fire Ceremony.

Friday evening let your hair down and show your moves off in the dance temple, well marquee ;0)  There’s likely to be entertainment before hand as well to get you in the mood.  And of course you can dance round the fire other nights if the drummers get a good beat going ;0), we do have an 11 o'clock drum curfew to keep the neighbours happy though.

Saturday is the Lammas Camp Ritual, if this is your first Pagan camp don’t worry we don’t get naked or anything ;0)
* * * * * * * * *
We've had quite a few lovely Handfastings at Lammas Camp (I've not got photos of all of them but here's a few) and there is to one this year as well, on Friday, which I'm sure will be wonderful :0)

If you'd rather relax than spend time cooking and washing up take a look at the food menu which is next to the ticket forms, very good prices, they cater for vegetarians and vegans too, and have snacks as well as main meals, ice cream, hot chocolate …

Remember to have a browse round the stalls and treat yourself something different and individual to the normal stuff :0)  Have a look in my shop on here as well, if you see something interesting let me know and I can bring it with me.
The camp site it’s self has archaeological interest with barrows dating back 4000 years – take a look here.

In the mean time here's some more photos of past years camps to remind me/us of lovely times shared in the Lammas field, come and join us and make some memories :0)

Tickets can be found on my Morning Star Craft website

Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp - a few photos

Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp is fast approaching again and so I thought it would be a good to dig out some photos from previous years to remind me of the lovely times shared there while looking forward to this years camp.
We've had some wonderful handfastings over the years but unfortunately I can't find photos of them all now.  We have a lovely handfasting organised for this years Lammas Camp as well as and a Saining.
We have had some fantastic Fire Ceremonies and Lammas Rituals, great drumming, dancing and chanting around the fire and wonderful sunsets and sunrises and I think this years will be just as amazing.

Can't wait for this years Lammas Camp which will be the 1st - 4th August 2019
Tickets available from Morning Star Craft website click on the Lammas Camp tab for more info about the camp site and ticket form, see you in the field soon :0)

Derbyshire Lammas Camp 2016

Lammas is getting ever closer and we're working on making our 13th camp even better. A crew meeting soon for planning, good excuse to get together ;0)  The Opening Fire Ceremony sounds cracking.  If you'd like to entertain/perform dance/sing/or something else let us know, we have a rechargeable amp now so folk and music can more easily be heard.   We're also using the amp Friday night for our nod to Hasfest, the small festival we used to have at the back of our moot pub.

Brief itinerary so far -
Thursday Camp Opens 2pm - Beating of the Bounds & Opening Fire Ceremony/Ritual, drum curfew 10.30pm

Friday - Entertainment & nod to our original festival Hasfest - Shamanism, Paganism, Rock n Roll!
(If you'd like to perform/entertain, dance/sing/play/??? there's still time to get in touch)

Saturday - Lammas Ritual, Handfasting, Drum curfew 11pm

Sunday Camp closes 2pm

We have some workshops sorted (more to come, keep checking back on the website Morning Star Craft as well as here, ticket info on there as well)
Workshops and talks are included in the ticket price (£20 per adult for the whole weekend)

Drumming Workshop - Bill

Re-wilding the Soul - Tan Harvey
We are an intrinsic part of nature; therefore if we say that we have lost our connection with nature then we have lost the connection with ourselves. The Oran More – Frank Mills 1998:
“Quiet – Eternal Quiet: – Not even the sound of the restless, stirring, dark waters could be heard.
Then, a great spiraling strain of Melody moved across the endless waters.
Subdued at first, then quickly gathering momentum until it reached a great crescendo.
And, then, there was Life!
But the Melody did not stop. It continued its song, filling all of Creation with its divine harmony.
And so it continues today, for all those who listen.”
The ‘Melody’ – the ‘Song’ this is the life-force energy flowing throughout all of creation, continuously, including US – listen, hear it, re-connect - the raw, wild energy of nature and our souls.

Incense - Tan Harvey
Our olfactory system (our sense of smell) is the quickest way to our brains; a smell is the one of the most powerful things for triggering memories or feelings, altering mood, healing and much more.Incense-sticks provide us with a natural way to achieve this – or do they? Mass production & unscrupulous manufacturers mean that in many the incense is glued to the stick (did you want to glue sniff?) or at worst are only coloured sawdust with chemical scents added.
Learn how to work with raw natural resins, herbs and woods to blend your own unique totally natural incenses, purpose made and lots of fun to do.

Yarn Mandalas - Gill

Power Animal 1  - Cherill
Journey to meet and greet your current animal spirit guide.
A talk and guided meditation to drumming.

Power Animal 2 - Cherill
You need to know your animal spirit guide for this one!
We connect with your animal guide them ask them to take you to the four directions to meet and seek guidance from the animal spirit guides that dwell on each of your four directions.
A longer guided meditation to the drum.

Past Life - Simon
Simon will demonstrate the Kristos method while Cherill will demonstrate the Own Space, Own Time method.
Both methods do not use hypnosis! We will ask for volunteers

Spell Casting - Lara

Runes - Nacht Engel
An informal introduction to the Elder Futhark Runes-the magical alphabet of the ancient Germanic tribes of Northern Europe and Scandinavia. The runes have been used for many centuries both for divination and as powerful magical symbols.

This workshop will provide a little of the history and mythology surrounding them, as well as teach you ways to recognise and remember each rune and it's meaning. It will show you in a fun and interactive way a few techniques for using them to reveal hidden wisdom and unveil the possible future. You will also learn how to create a bind rune talisman for protection,  wealth, love, success or health. Free rune interpretation sheet for everyone attending.

Tribal - Tyler

Dowsing - Cherill
Cherill and Simon will show you how to Dowse for everyday living using rods and pendulums.
You will have a chance to use both methods during the workshop.

Mindfulness - Dave

Trees - Dave

Drum Journey - Pat
Waking the Spirit of the Drum
A ceremony and Journey to awaken the Spirit of your Drum. Connecting you with the spirit of your Drum will enhance the work you do together. Awaking the spirit of the Drum allows the instrument to become a helper spirit which will guide , intensify and increase the quality of your work.

Plant Spirit Shamanism - Pat

Kite Making - Richard

Stick Weaving - Liz
Make a bracelet.  Everything supplied, 1 -1.5 hours. Suitable for children as well.

Spinning - Liz
Liz will be bringing her wheel etc and setting up near her van, just ask her for a go when you see it there.

Chesterfield/Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp tickets 2015

Happy Imbolc

Imbolc Bessings to you all, may your ideas germinate and become fully grown

Artwork of Brighid - Jo Jayson
The midpoint between winter and spring.  Spring is starting to show signs of renewing the earth with leaf and bud.  The days are getting longer and hopefully soon warmer too.

As it is Imbolc time it is also time for us to get camp tickets underway.  Yay happy thoughts of camp, friends, fire, dancing, drumming and general merriment.  Not to hopefully distract from good memories, but to make sure this years camp is even better, we have had to put extra rules into place this year from lessons learned last year.  Below are the rules, even if you have been to Lammas Camp before please read them and follow them if you intend coming along this year.  There is also ticket info at the bottom.  We are not using Zeta to take money for tickets this year, to keep costs down (and you must admit our camp with all the workshops, entertainment etc is really good value) Cherill is giving herself the headache of dealing with tickets and ticket enquires.

Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp Ticket Application Form Information, Rules and Regulations!

Please read these terms and conditions before applying for tickets. The  ticket application form is on page 4.  Once you have read these pages, please indicate on your ticket application form that you agree to abide by these rules/conditions. Failure to do so will result in your ticket request being denied.

Tickets
Tickets are limited. We reserve the right to refuse ticket applications without giving a reason.  Tickets will be sent out by email once payment is made and cleared.  These tickets must be printed and presented to the Marshalls at camp where they will be exchanged for wristbands.  No ticket = no entry!

Arrival
Please do not arrive before 2.00pm
On arrival please report to the Marshalls at the entrance to the first field. The Welcome tent will be at the entrance to the camping field. Also, there is a steep hill to climb in your vehicle to get into the camping field, which can be difficult in wet weather.  Please follow the instructions the Marshalls will give you about this hill and about where you must camp/park.  Marshalls will also be in the main events/camping field and you must follow their instructions should they give you any. We will try our best to help you if necessary!

Pitches
There are no set pitches.  We cannot save any spaces for anyone and NEITHER CAN YOU!  The pitching is on a first come, first choice basis.  If you want to camp next to your family/friends, we suggest you arrive together.  Also, be aware that some workshops may be noisy.  Therefore, if you want a quieter pitch, you may want to consider pitching further up the field.

Water
There are two standpipes which supply cold water only. Please use these responsibly and be aware that the area around the taps may get very muddy!

Toilets
The toilets are eco long-drop toilets, but we do supply two toilet tents on ground level for children and disabled people only! There are also two eco toilets at the bottom of the first field.  We also provide gents with urinal area. There is no hand washing facilities, other than the cold water supply.  You are responsible for your own hygiene standards.
If you are using camping toilets, you must use biodegradable toilet fluid only and empty these in the long drop toilets.  Do not empty them in the hedgerows! Female Urine upsets the Ewes and this is a nasty thing to do.
Please leave all toilet areas in a clean condition, as you would wish to find them.  If you ‘miss aim’ please wipe the seats!

Showers
There are NO showers or hot water!  You are responsible for your own hygiene needs.

Cars
All cars/vans must park in the first field unless you have a Disability Blue Parking Badge.  We shall require proof of the badge holder’s identity on the site. You will be allowed to drive onto the main field to unload etc but then you will need to go and park in the other field.
Small motor homes will be allowed on the camping field, but larger ones will be asked to park in the first field.
Caravans can park in the main field but your vehicles must go into the first field.
This change is due to the cramped conditions of 2014 and the increase in larger vehicles/caravans.
Non – compliance with the parking changes will result in you being asked to leave the site.
Vehicles are parked at owners own risk.  The organisers take no responsibility for any vehicle.  We suggest that you lock any valuables in your vehicle.  The organisers cannot be held responsible for missing items.

Children
Please be aware that there is a very steep cliff on the field above camp, so do not allow your children to wander unaccompanied in this area.
IT IS VERY DANGEROUS!
Please do not allow children of any age to play on the Hay Bales or in any part of the farm yard, by express wishes of the farmer!

Dogs
Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times.  There are children and livestock around (and adults!).
All dog mess must be cleaned up and put in the long drop toilets.  Eco bags will be available if required at the Welcome Tent.
Please be aware of the safety issue with dogs on tethers or long leads.  People do not always look for ropes etc when walking round!
Please do NOT approach dogs without the owners’ permission!
If ANY dog is found off a lead, or if any owner is found not to be cleaning up their dogs mess, they will be asked to leave the site immediately, or to take the dog/dogs and place them in nearby kennels. This is your choice!

Stalls
You are welcome to put a small stall outside your tent FOR FREE! However, due to the increase in insurance costs, we must insist you have your own Personal Liability Insurance.  We will need to see proof of this before you set up a stall.  Please note that you are responsible for your own stall and goods displayed on them.

Fire-pits
There are a few fire-pits available to loan, but you can bring your own.  However, they must be kept off the grass!  You MUST bring YOUR OWN wood to burn or logs can be purchased from Bob the farmer!  We do not supply you with logs!
ANY aggressive or violent behaviour will be dealt with by INSTANT EVICTION!
We have qualified First Aiders on camp should you need them.  Please go to the Welcome Tent if you require help.  We also have Health and Safety Officers should you require advice.

Camp closes at 2.00pm. Please leave by then!

So in Short:-

Please be kind to one another!
Keep your area pretty.
Respect the environment.
Look after your kids, pets, cars and stalls etc.
And:-

HAVE A BLOODY GOOD TIME!

Looking forward to seeing you all,

The Lammas Camp Organisers & Crew.

p.s.   Workshop info and sheet is available to download at chesterfieldpagans.org from late June/July but may be subject to change.

Derbyshire Pagans Lammas Camp is fast approaching now we are past the Summer Solstice, in fact there's only a few more week to go, (I'd best get making more items to put on my stall) ;0)  We're busy getting the site ready, checking things over and the workshops are coming along.

As usual it's to be held at New House Organic Farm, Knivereton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 1JL which offers a field for us with fantastic views and we can have a camp fire burning all weekend, drumming curfew is 10pm due to the sound of drums carrying down to the villages but guitars and instruments which don't carry sound so far can go on longer.  Camping is a bit basic, no hot water or showers, there are stand pipes with fresh cold water and of course the long drop composting toilets, like Glastonbury Festival;0)

Beating of the bounds Thursday evening to open the camp and a Circle of Power to be created by the Lammas Oak planted last year to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Camp.  Please bring along (now this is the important bit) either a stone, a feather, a piece of wood, some soil, water from a stream or river local to the place upon Mother Earth you call home to make connective/offering.

Fire Ceremony

Tickets are available online from Zeta Tickets and at only £17 for the full weekend including workshops it's an absolute bargain!  Day tickets are available as well.  Ticket sales close on Sunday 27th July at 10pm.  There's more info to be found on our Chesterfield Pagans facebook Lammas Camp event page if you want to have a click over there and our web site
